The cupboard under the sink, finally free of clutter

The cupboard under the kitchen sink often becomes a catch-all for cleaning products, spare cloths and odd bits that have nowhere else to go. Grouping similar products together, rather than letting bottles lean against each other at random, makes this awkward space far more usable on a daily basis.

A small caddy or tray for the most frequently used sprays keeps them together and easy to lift out entirely when a deeper clean is needed. This avoids reaching past several bottles just to find the one product actually required for the task at hand.

Making the most of an awkward shape

The pipework under most sinks leaves an irregular space that standard storage boxes rarely fit well, so it is worth measuring carefully before choosing containers. A few narrow boxes often work better than one large one that cannot properly slot around the plumbing.

Products that are rarely used, such as a specialist cleaner kept for one particular job, can sit towards the back or on a small raised shelf if the cupboard allows for one. This keeps the front area free for whatever gets reached for most days of the week.

Spare cloths and sponges deserve their own small container rather than being left loose among the bottles, where they tend to pick up dampness and smell over time. A simple ventilated basket keeps them drier and far more pleasant to use when needed.

A tidy cupboard under the sink might not be the most exciting part of the kitchen, but it saves real frustration every time cleaning is on the agenda. A few minutes spent grouping products properly pays off with every wipe-down of the worktop afterwards.
